<p><font size="2">&nbsp;&nbsp; 지구상에 존재하는 모든 생물체는 나름대로의 생명 활동을 영위하고 있다. 이러한 생명 활동의 가장 바닥에 깔려 있어 모든 생물체에 동일하게 적용될 수 있는 법칙이 하나 있는데 그것을 생물학에서는 <strong>중심설(central dogma)</strong>이라고 한다. 이러한 <strong>central dogma</strong>는 분자생물학, 아니 더 나아가 모든 생물학 분야의 기초가 되는 아주 기본적이고도 중요한 법칙이라고 할 수 있다. 유전 정보의 흐름을 나타내는 분자 생물학의 기본 원리인 <strong>central dogma</strong>는 1958년 Francis Crick에 의해 처음으로 제안되었고, 1970년에 Nature 잡지에 다시 재게되었다. 분자생물학의 <strong>central dogma</strong>를 한 마디로 말하면 다음과 같다. &ldquo;모든 유전 정보는 일방통행으로 전달된다. 즉 DNA가 주형으로 작용하여 RNA가 전사되고, 이 RNA가 갖고 있는 정보는 다시 단백질(protein)로 번역된다.&rdquo; 다시 말하면 정보가 일단 단백질로 전송되면, 핵산 (DNA, RNA)으로 역전송될 수 없다고 할 수 있다. 그럼 지금부터 <strong>central dogma</strong>에 대해 차례대로 자세하게 알아 보기로 하겠다.&nbsp;<br />
