<p><strong>PDBWiki</strong> is a prototype for a community annotated knowledge base of biological molecular structures and related information. It was created in August 2007 by members of the <a rel="nofollow" title="http://www.molgen.mpg.de/~lappe/" class="external text" href="http://www.molgen.mpg.de/%7Elappe/">Structural Proteomics Group</a> at the <a rel="nofollow" title="http://www.molgen.mpg.de/" class="external text" href="http://www.molgen.mpg.de/">Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics</a> and is currently under development. <a title="Feedback and suggestions" href="http://pdbwiki.org/index.php/Feedback_and_suggestions">Feedback and suggestions</a> are very welcome. </p>

<h2><span class="editsection"></span><span class="mw-headline">Project purpose</span></h2>

<p>The purpose of the project is to create a community driven resource for basic protein structure annotation. Starting with data from the <a title="Protein Data Bank" href="http://pdbwiki.org/index.php/Protein_Data_Bank">Protein Data Bank</a> (PDB), we allow users to contribute comments, classification, and other information to the archive. By this mechanism we aim to create a forum for discussion, improve data quality and minimize duplication of effort. </p>
