- 분노, 공포, 성적 자극, 기쁨과 슬픔 같은 다양한 정서와 감정과 관련되는 후뇌 내에 있는 구조 집단.
- 변연계의 구조는 띠이랑(cingulate gyrus), 협부(isthmus), 해마이랑(hippocampal gyrus), 갈고리이랑(uncus)과 편도(amygdala)를 포함함
