- 지속적인 고열, 두통, 온 몸의 거의 대부분을 덮는 어두운 반점이 있는 발진 등이 나타나는 급성의 심한 리케차성 감염임.
- 원인이 되는 미생물인 Richettsia prowazekii는 사람의 몸을 이가 물어뜯었을 때 간접적으로 전염됨.
