<p><font size="2">시간적인 개념보다는 homology percentage에 의한 [[block]]을 찾은 것이다. 일반적으로 진화적으로 봤을 때 분지가 최근에 일어났다거나, 비교하려는 query sequences가 긴 경우에는 높은 [[BLOSUM]], 낮은 [[PAM]]을 사용하게 된다. 하지만 query sequences가 짧거나 진화적으로 분지된 시간이 먼 경우에는 높은 PAM, 낮은 BLOSUM을 적용해 사용한다.<br /></font><br />

<br /><font face="굴림" color="#333333" size="2">BLOSUM 뒤의 숫자는 block을 설정 할 때의 [[homology]] %의 기준이 된다. 따라서 짧은 sequence에서 높은 homology를 갖는 block을 찾는 것은 실제로 그보다 낮은 homology를 갖는 block이 만들어질 확률에 비해 떨어지게 된다. 그러므로 실제 homology가 존재하는 sequence의 경우에도 homology가 없다는 결과 값을 얻을 수 있다. </font><br /></p>
