<p>BLAST2는 크게 [[gapped BLAST]]와 [[PSI-BLAST]]로 구분되며 BLAST에서 문제가 되어왔던 gap처리가 되지 않던것을 gapped BLAST에서는&nbsp;<br />gap을 처리할수 있게하고, 동시에 같은 정도의 [[sensivity]]를 유지하면서 실행속도는 3배 정도 향상시켰다.</p>
<p><font color="#99cc00" size="2"><strong>#변경된 알고리즘</strong></font><br />= BLAST에서 발견되는 W-mer를 seed로 사용하여 gapped BLAST에서 diagonal의 일정 distance이내에 sigle hit들이 겹치지 않으면서 존재할때,&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 이것을 extension을 시작할 candidate list에 넣어둔다<br />= 특정 Sg값 이상의 HSP에 대하여 gapped txtension을 실행한다.</p>
