<p><strong>물</strong>은 상온, 표준압력(standard pressure)에서 액체로 존재하는 화합물이다. 그 화학식은 H<sub>2</sub>O이며, 물 분자가 두 개의 수소 원자와, 하나의&nbsp;산소 원자로 이루어져 있음을 뜻한다. 물은 지구상의 거의 모든 곳에서 발견되며, 지구 표면의 70%정도는 물로 덮여있다. 지금까지 알려진 모든 생명체에게 필수적이다.</p>
<p>물은 극성 분자이므로 좋은 무기 용매이다.</p>
