What is toxicomics?

Toxicomics is an omics field to study the totality of toxic chemicals in cells.

ToxiComics is not a comics of toxicity.

What are we trying to achieve?

Toxicomicists try to analyze the effect of toxic chemicals in cells through high throughput experiment such as microarray and molecular interactions.

Bioinformatically, toxicomicists want to map the toxic chemical world and predict their effect on proteins and cells.

How can we use toxicomics methods for reducing side effects of drugs?

Toxicomics aims to list all the possible drugs, toxins and ligands of proteins with bioinformatical and experimental ranked scores.

Specifically targetting diseases that are associated with the toxic chemicals, we try to:

1. predict the toxicity
2. predict the binding affinities of toxins/drugs.
3. screen for competitive inhibitors
4. develop drugs that have less toxicity by predicting the side effects
