The somatotropic axis. 뇌하수체로부터 growth hormone(GH)의 분해와 합성은 Hypothalamic hormones GH-releasing hormone(GHRH)와 Somatostatin(SPIF)에 의해서 조절이 되는데, 이것은 혈액의 GH와 insulin과 유사한 growth factor-I(IGF-I)의 농도로부터 feedback(dashed lines)에 의해서 다시 조절되어진다.<br />
