<p>Lipman, Wilbur, Pearson 등이 hashing과 윈도 설정의 방법을 고안해 만든 FASTP[protein search]와 FASTN[nucleotide search]은 local homology alignment를&nbsp;<br />포함한 [[FASTA]]로 발전하여 데이터베이스를 이용한 [[homology]] search에 사용되며, Altschul과 Karlin이 Homologous candidate fragment선정과&nbsp;<br />extension방법을 이용하여 개발한 [[BLAST]]는 데이터베이스를 이용하여 local homology search를 위한 가장 많이 사용되는 툴이다. 최근 BLAST의 단점인&nbsp;<br />Gap처리가 안되는것을 보안한 BLAST2가 [[BLAST2]]가 나와서 BLAST를 대체하고 있다.</p>
